Lactation Consultation

Included in these sessions:
Immediate attention to your area of concern
A customized care plan tailored to your needs
A mother's assessment- positioning, anatomy assessment, oversupply & undersupply of breastmilk evaluation
Assessment of any breastfeeding-related area of concern ie mastitis, clogged ducts, insufficient glandular tissue, bottle refusal, breast refusal, etc
A baby assessment including feeding, latch, and positioning. Effective transfer of milk. This includes weighted feeds. Oral assessment for buccal, lip, and tongue ties
Comfort assessments. Is there a painful latch? How can we achieve the most optimal latch teaching with handouts
Evaluation of baby gas and body tension
Baby's weight plotted on WHO growth chart
Evaluation of all tools you are using, including pumps and flanges
Flange measuring and fitting at every appointment
A written plan in your hand with goals and benchmarks, so you don't have to remember everything or take notes. Provided free of charge

Plan for 1.5 to about 2 hours for this consultation
$100 one hour follow up consultation
$100 follow-up can only be booked after an initial $180 lactation consultation is completed. This 1-hour follow-up session allows for 2 to 3 topics to be assessed and discussed
$50 thirty minute follow-up consultation
$50 thirty minute follow-up can only be booked after an initial $180 lactation consultation is completed. This thirty-minute session allows for 1 topic to be assessed and discussed
Interactive consultation designed to build confidence and skills for breastfeeding.
Included in these sessions:
Colostrum education: how to collect and store, when does this start, and why it's so important
Why pumping too early in pregnancy is dangerous.
Harvesting colostrum isn't necessary but is a good thing. What it's good for
Breastfeeding positioning for the new baby
Latch education: how to get a deep latch, the first latch, what to expect in the first weeks
What to expect in the hospital and what the first days will look like
Breast anatomy. What kind of nipples do you have? Inverted, Everted, Flat. Do you need to use a nipple shield or an everter?
Individual breast assessment
Pumping. Where do we even start? What is a primary pump? What is a secondary pump? Flanges? Pump Spray?

Flange sizing and fitting-How to, why this is done many times throughout the feeding journey

Travel fees are waived for groups of 5 or more that book together
